COMMUNICATE through SOUNDS

MANTRAS and THEIR LANGUAGE

There is quite diffuse confusion about these theme, especially when listening to these mystical sounds, we can easily clarify.

Some mantras are in Sanskrit - it is a language and this is trouble-free;

some are in Punjab... Punjab is language too (Indo-Aryan language derived from Sanskrit and spoken prominently in the Punjabi state).

Here is worthy to spend a little bit of attention on this fascinating topic.

Of course the Punjabi language we are used to hear in mantras and written in the holy scriptures of the 16th century is different from the present version (the 4th most spoken language worldly with many dialects mutually intelligible).

The interesting fact about Punjab, which greatly resembles Urdu and Hindi, is the way is written, as there are two main scripts.

One is SHAHMUKHI (shah=king, mukhi=mouth), the language of the king, used by Punjabi speaking Muslims and which is a Perso-Arabic script from right to left;

the other is GURMUKHI, the language of the Guru (in contrast to Manmukh - man=mind), used by Sikhs as polished version of the forefather Landa script.

Without competition between King and Guru, now you know a something more about the origin of mantras you get more familiar with.

Last but not least, quote unquote from Yogi Bhajan: "walk like a king and talk like a sage" as the secret of prosperity.

With love,

Phedra
